The first book inthe Lights of Lowell series, which is a follow up series to the Bells of Lowell. We meet Jasmine in this book, and she lives on a southern plantation before she comes to visit her grandmother in lowell. A lot of slavery/cotton/weaving issues are brought up. She does meet up with a lot of the characters from the first series, which is great.
