In 1894, Essie is 30, and she is quite a tomboy. A spinster, almost. She loves riding a bike, which makes everyone else in town a little nervous. We watch as she goes through lists of potential husbands and live her life in a small town.
I hadn't read anything on this topic for a while, so I thought a refresher would be nice around the time I went to visit my doctor again. Nothing really new or super helpful, but an interesting read.
This was just a little too much for my CFIDS body to do. I got overwhelmed reading it, and there weren't very man y low-scale exercise plans. This would probably be great for someone else, but just not for me right at this stage in life.
Another new-to-me-author. Two mothers, in similar situations, but from very different backgrounds. Tragedy strikes for both of them when their sons are in a car accident. The ways they deal with this really make for an interesting book.
Very cute small scale reference book that would be super for a new knitter who didn't have all of the abbreviations or basic techniques down. It's set up like a dictionary. For my reference, the Knitting Answer Book is a little more set up in a way I can understand with good cast ons and bind offs too. But this was cute :)
I saw someone mention another Marion Nestle book on their blog, and then when I saw this one available at the library, I thought I'd check it out. It had a ton of things that I hadn't ever considered, like the way the FDA has to please so many people with their guidelines over the years. I was really interested by the whole concepts she brought up.
This book had SO many ideas in it that I can't absorb it all! I think I'd like to own this or another one like it because it was so all-encompassing of so many different types of scrapbook pages.
The first book in the California Historical series (according to Amazon, that's not written on the book). This features Ruth Caldwell, who goes to meet her father and ends up meeting the McCain family, including Josh and Laney. Ruth is not as graceful as her mother would have liked, and her "accidents" get her in trouble often. She's a fun character!
This was a great book. I held onto it for quite a while because I was still absorbing the info! There's a lot of good reference about what vitamins, etc. are in each fruit and vegetable. There are also good meal plans and recipes. This might be a good one to own
I picked this book up off the shelf, and I have to say, I wasn't really impressed. It wasn't anything super or any information that I was too interested in, and the layout is not what I prefer (the patterns were in a section of their own after the pictures).
The second in the series. We wonder where Michael is now. Sophie helps out the war effort with her attempts to figure out what's going on. Another interesting look at a war I hadn't heard of.
This is the first of the Chronicles of the Spanish Civil War series, and the first and second were on the new book shelf at the main library, so I checked them out. I didn't know anything about the Spanish Civil war, so this was very educational. We meet Sophie, who travels from the US to meet up with her fiance Michael, and there are secrets all around him. Then the war meets up with them, and more characters are introduced. Nice start to a series.
This was a great book! I took a chance on an unknown author from my favorite publishing house (Bethany) and it ended up being a great mystery/romance. It had a bit of high-tech intrigue, being set in SF. But mostly it was a very believable story about a married couple who maybe wanted to find their way back... a sailboat trip that was just the two of them was a highlight.
First book of the Sisterchicks books. I'm not sure how the other ones will relate, due to the epilogue, I think they'll be standalones. This was fun, watching Sharon come out of her shell and all of the people who they meet on the trip and all of the places they visit.
First book in the Creoles Series. This was a cool look at New Orleans, from the authors who wrote the New Orleans portion of the Cheney series. I enjoyed meeting Chantel. The Four Musketeers were fun too, and I look forward to a closer look at each.
I haven't enjoyed all of the newer JD books, and so I got this one from the library before buying it (I own almost everything now). This was actually pretty good, with a good current day story but uncovering a mystery in the past. I enjoy the historical stories that she writes more so this was a nice combo. I think I'll buy it if I see it on a discount!

A good reference book. I found it because the same author wrote Nutrition for Dummies and mentioned it. It goes into a lot of deep info but presents it in an easy to understand way. This may be one I should own, although bright yellow books aren't quite in style with the rest of my shelf!
This was a great cookbook, and I'd look through it again. Very good information throughout.
