The first book of the Ribbons West series, picking up after the Ribbons of Steel series. This book reacquaints us with the children from the previous series - Victoria who married Kiernan and their siblings. It was a great first book to the series and I look forward to the next.
The third book in the Ribbons of Steel series. Even though it's been a bit since I read book 2, it seemed like Carolina's behavior changed once she was married into being a little bitter. But overall, I still liked her character. I love her family, and I enjoyed the railroad development. I look forward to reading the follow up series.
A new standalone book by Tracie Peterson. This followed her pattern of starting out with one character and flashing back, but winding them together in such a wonderful way. Jana deals with her husband's betrayal while learning about her mother's past, even featuring hippie communes. Even though some of the issues are intense and victimizing, the book was very well done to present these in the best way possible.
The third and final book of the Lights of Lowell series. This was a good continuation to the series. Jasmine and Nolan have to go to The Willows, and that was an interesting development and scary too. I think I was most disappointed with the ending that it just seemed like one more piece of the series, and nothing to tie up the loose ends. Maybe they are going to write another one , but I doubt it.
The second book of the Lights of Lowell series. This book continued to focus on Jasmine rather than introducing another girl like they did with the Bells of Lowell series, and I was excited for that. The story is so good, with her brother-in-law helping, and trips to plantations, and the way she cares for her extended family. Can't wait to read the last one!
2nd book in the Ribbons of Steal series. I am loving this series. It's so sad that I'm having to get them interlibrary loan, which makes them slow, but it's such a good series. We pick up right where we left off with Carolina and her family, and James. Carolina ends up going to be a Nanny and gaining a child out of the deal. James struggles and comes to God. I can't wait to see what happens next!
The first book inthe Lights of Lowell series, which is a follow up series to the Bells of Lowell. We meet Jasmine in this book, and she lives on a southern plantation before she comes to visit her grandmother in lowell. A lot of slavery/cotton/weaving issues are brought up. She does meet up with a lot of the characters from the first series, which is great.
The third and final book of the Bells of Lowell series. This one focused on Bella's best friend Daughtie. We learn a lot more about the people from the previous books (Including the honeymoon trips for Bella and Lilly with their husbands), and that's one of the things I love the most about series like this. The descrimation and segratation of the slaves wasn't the only segregation this book pointed out, and I hadn't really realized that the Irish were so separate. This was a good ending to the series.
Another super standalone book by Tracie Peterson! This book featured Kathy and Amy (Sunshine), where Amy changed her name and ran away from home and Kathy stayed home to care for their parents. They deal with a lot of emotion when meeting each other for the first time in 12 years, amidst family health issues, too.
first book from the Ribbons of Steel series. This is the first series that Tracie Peterson did for Bethany House (she did standalones before). I had to request it through interlibrary loan, which I feel kinda bad doing when our library had none of the books in the series, but it was a series that really sounded interesting to me. I was very happy that I read this... I loved finding out that all the children in the family were named after states. :) The core of the story was the beginning of the railroads in the US, and a family involved in that. I loved Carolina and her sisters and brothers storylines.
The fourth and final book of the Heirs of Montana series. I had to read this one in Large print because we didn't have it in regular. :) But it was worth it to learn the end of the story. I got a little fed up with Dianne at times. She flip flopped on her faith in Cole off and on and so quickly, and that was frustrating. I didn't like Cole's family at all. But the overall storyline was really a good conclusion to the series. Learning where each member of the family ended up was so positive and good.
Second book for the Bells of Lowell series. We meet a new girl who is working in the mill - Arabella and her friend Daughtie - and they move in with Miss Addie from the last book. We also check in with Lily and Matthew, and Addie and John Farmsworth, and are introduced to John's nephew Taylor. This is another great installation to the series, and I'm excited to see the next book.
Final book for the Alaskan Quest series. A great way to wrap up the story with Jayce, Leah, Jacob, Helaina, and Karen/Adrick and their family.
3rd and final book of the Shannon series (but there's a follow up series by just James Scott Bell without Tracie Peterson.) I enjoyed this a lot, with Hanratty needing Kit's help, and more about Ted Fox. I really did enjoy the aspects of the law in this era, learning more about that has been fun. I'm going to reread the first book of the other series before I move into the 2nd and 3rd there.
Another first in a series book. This is the first of the Bells of Lowell series. This is another series by Tracie Peterson with a co-author, and I've enjoyed all the others I've read. We meet Lilly Armbruster, who has just lost her family and her family just lost their farmland because of fabric millowners needing the land, at the time of the industrial revolution. I enjoyed the storyline of Lilly living in a mill boarding house and learning the ropes. Her previous connections with the Cheever family is interesting, and I'm excited to learn more.
Second book in the Shannon Saga. This book goes deeper into Kit Shannons life, with her own law practise. There was more about her friend, Corazon, and her brother Juan. I feel like I know a bit more about the law after reading these books, even though this is turn-of-the-century law. I'm excited to see where the next book goes.
The library didn't have the 3rd book in the series except for in Large Print, so I gave in and read it that way! Another great installment of the story of Dianne and Cole Selby and their extended family. After just reading Valley of the Shadow, I've had a lot of Indian stories in the last few days! I had a hard time with Dianne's lack of trust in her husband, but I think it's just because I recognized I would have had a hard time in the same situation (she was in charge for so long and then he came back and she wasn't, and had to sit back and let him be in charge). There are so many challenges, and the ending is heart breaking. I look forward to seeing their "hope" grow.
Book 2 in the Alaskan Quest series. The great thing about this book is that we pick up the story right where book 1 left off. We learn more about Helaina, and then meet Jayce, Chase's evil brother. A lot more character development between Jayce and Leah is good too.
This is the first book in a prequel series to one I started before, and I finally picked it up. We learn how Kit Shannon becomes a lawyer. I'm interested in the 1900 Los Angeles, it's really interesting to see how things were then. And the trials from her desire to be a lawyer are quite interesting.
Brand new book as the first in the series of Ladies of Liberty. This was a really nice start to a series, with Mia being a lady of society who really wanted to do good for the people around her. We meet her neighbors and friends, and are introduced to her love of writing. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series, once they are released.
