Thanks for all the links!! I started knitting a couple of months ago and love it. I've made a couple of scarfs and little pouch purses now I'm going to try my first circular needle project and make a triangular shawl. Whoo!

Happy New Year!

I've been meaning to ask you-- I would LOVE to learn how to knit, and was wondering if you have any advice as to how to get started. Thanks!
That's awesome, it's so fun to try out new projects - I hope you have fun with your new circular needles!

hello miss amy! I'm glad to hear you are interested in knitting - you should definitely try it out! I'm a real resource person, and so for me, it was really helpful to have very clear diagrams for learning to cast on and do the knit stitch. I found this small book at our local craft store and even though I never made anything out of the patterns, the initial instruction was really clear. If you learn better seeing someone else knit, you might see if there's a free knitting group anywhere in your area that invites beginners, that's a great way to start out too. And then I'd suggest some basic washable worsted weight yarn and some straight needles somewhere between size 6 to 8. That's pretty standard and easy to see the stitches. Hope that helps!
Thanks so much for the info! I'll let you know when/if I get started. (Who knows with the babe coming so soon!)
