Books

You must have a huge nightstand!

My pile of books "to read" became overwhelming after my daughter was born, but I'm too stubborn to put them up and face the fact that it may be years before I finish that stack.

And I keep buying more. Heh. What happened to my time?

Ya know, I'm 27 years old, and only joined the public library a few weeks ago, because of my 4 month old son [yeah, cause you know he's gonna be flying through the books right now].
Anyway...anny good book suggestions? :)

Zoot, I know exactly what you mean. I was reading a really unusual, good, semi-fantastical book called Obabakoak. I remember sitting like a beached whale, pregnant with my first baby in 1999, sitting poolside in Austin, TX. I still haven't finished it. I've finished others, but for some reason, not that one. i think it symbolizes all the focus I lost when the babies started to come along, not that I had much to begin with. I blame that on the tele being my babysitter growing up. And it's the tv that STILL gets in the way of reading.

I still like bookstores, until I consider buying. Then I feel very overwhelmed at the prospect of bringing home yet another book. So I never buy books anymore. Instead, the bookstore is a getaway, leaving Brad to tuck the kiddies in once a week. Well, this is turning into a blog....

JoyLynn, assuming you like fiction, I strongly recommend The World According to Garp by John Irving, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, and in non-fiction, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks. You may like completely different genres than I do, so look over the dust jackets first. Good luck on that, and lemme know if you like any of them. GeorgiaLynn.
