letters of the alphabet meme
I saw this one in my feeds from halfgeek, and it looked like a fun one to fill out last night when I was trying to keep from cleaning the house. ;) And then I got sleepy towards the end and couldn't finish. So what did I run to when I first ran up? I wanted to finish it! :D
This is one time I wish I had an extended entry becase this might turn out to be a bit long ;) sorry neighborhood pages!
accent: periodically, I say something that sounds michigan-y. But mostly i have no accent. Washington people just really don't have much of an accept like certain other areas of the country ;)
booze: Barely ever. If I do, I drink girly drinks. I threaten to get drunk when I'm having a bad day, but I never do. The last time I drank a lot a bit was my sister's pre-bachlorette party (Sarah, my sister-in-law was going to be very pregnant when it was time for the real party, so we did an early one too :P)
chore I hate: Cleaning the fridge, mainly because if I find mold, I get freaked out. There's no mold in our fridge right now, and I've gotten way better at dealing with it, but it used to give me such the heebie-geebies! I actually am not a big fan of taking out the trash, and so E does that every week :)
dogs/cats: just stuffed ones. We don't have pets intentionally at the moment. Having a little kitty might be nice, but E's allergic. He'd like gerbils or hamsters and I'm adamantly against that idea.
essential electronics: computer/laptop. ipod. camera. cell phone. Those are all usually VERY close at hand. There are other things that are important like my wacom tablet and game boy.
favorite perfume/cologne: I'm sensitive to scents. So I don't usually wear perfume. I do have some scented lotions that I like wearing. Back in the day when I did wear it, it was Lovespell by Victoria's Secret. I love that scent, and I still use that hand soap in our master bathroom.
gold/silver: silver mostly. Sometimes, gold is okay. My ring is white gold because I do prefer the look of silver tones.
hometown: I was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. But my hometown has been Vancouver, Washington for much longer.
insomnia: Not right now, but there were about 2 years where I was so screwed up with my sleeping. I almost went to one of those sleep clinics. When my health started to balance out a bit, so did my sleeping. Now I do still need more sleep, and I tend to wake up too early, but insomnia attacks are more like once or twice a month rather than every other day.
job title: Technical Support goddess for Six Apart. (okay, so the goddess part isn't exactly on my business card or anything ;) ) Currently working hard with the Vox side of things!
kids: No kids. yet. :) Just a beautiful niece and soon to be a nephew too.
living arrangements: We own a condo. We==Eric and I. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 story, with no backyard. I need to take some recent pictures, yes I do!
most admired trait: What people admire about me? or what I admire about myself? I think that people probably admire my laughter and bringing a smile to a situation. I like the fact that I'm dependable, and there when people need me.
number of significant relationships: only 2, although the 1st one really pales in comparison completely ;)
overnight hospital stays: I don't remember ever having to stay the night, my one surgery was outpatient, so I think I was just there for a day.
phobia: Burglars. The dark. Fire. Mold.
quotes: I was an Angelquotes goddess for a while. I had a calendar all full of angel quotes, and every day, I sent one out to a list of women who were terrific and deserved all the love in the world. One of my favorites is:
An angel, robed in spotless white,
Bent down and kissed the sleeping Night,
Night woke to blush; the sprite was gone,
Men saw the blush and called it Dawn.
Paul Laurence Dunbar
There's more on the old angelquotes site (woah, old design!)
religion: I'm a seventh-day adventist, although I'm not practicing. I believe in the beliefs of the church, but I don't believe in the way the church treats people who aren't regular members. Too much bickering and judgementalism. My brother and sister-in-law go to a great sunday church and we attend periodically there. I feel blessed when I go.
siblings: Two younger sisters (Megan is 23, Lisa is 20) and two younger brothers (Leonard is 27, Matthew is 17). I have a sister-in-law (Sarah, Leonard's wife) and a niece (Leah, their daughter). I also have a brother-in-law (Craig, he's my husband's brother). By the end of the year, I will have two more brother-in-laws!
time I usually wake up: Between 5:30 and 6:30 every day. It depends on how early I go to bed!
unusual talent: good question. I can make roses out of silly putty. I taught myself to arrange flowers... with the first time I did it being my own wedding.
vegetables I refuse to eat: brussel sprouts
worst habit: It used to be biting my nails. But they are long now. Probably eating/snacking on bad things and sugar, I need to cut back and get skinny.
x-rays: multiple CT scans on my head and my ankles.
yummy foods I make: Macaroni and Cheese is probably my favorite. I make great chocolate chip cookies. I do a lot of other things, but those are my favorites.
zodiac sign: I'm a taurus. It does fit, although I may not be quite as stubborn as the definition. Taurus is associated with earth, which is cautious, and stability and practicality. (wikipedia, cafeastrology)
