What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?
There are 3 right now that I pay for and then a few more that come besides that.
Real Simple. I've been getting this magazine since the very first issue came out. I love it and only wish I woudl make myself find time to read them right away. There's at least 3 or 4 from last year sitting under my table that I haven't read yet because I'm looking for the perfect time to spend time enjoying it. Plus, I get their daily thought of the day and their weekly email from the site, and I really enjoy those too. This magazine started at a time that I really needed this kind of inspiration, so it was perfect.
Simple & Delicious. This was called Quick Cooking, and it's a sister magazine to Taste of Home. Where Taste of Home was more full meals (we had that for a wedding present), Simple & Delicious is more do-able, and more likely to have a few vegetarian ideas or things that can be modified to be vege.
Cooking for 2. This is the other sister magazine to Taste of Home. This is also a great cooking idea magazine.
And then my mother-in-law gets us some adventist magazines (Adventist Review, Women of Spirit), which I always think I should read, but usually just skim. She also gets us Consumer Reports, which is a fun one that we read together.
My funnest memory of magazines is that my grandma (yes, the same one that took me to the muppet movie) thought it was important that we got magazines. So every year, she'd get a subscription for each of us kids (there's 5 of us, that's a lot of magazines!). I remember Your Big Backyard, Ranger Rick, and then later Brio (a Focus on the Family magazine for young girls) and finally Teen or Seventeen, I don't remember which.
I personally have subscribed to a lot of magazines in my life too; mostly after I got to college. Multiple soap magazines, Entertainment Weekly, and I'm sure a few more. Later on, it was Brides magazine too. There are probably more there, I was definitely a magazine junky. :) Now I can't keep up as easily! And plus, I read a lot of feeds the same way I would have read magazines, so that does easy the pain of not having as many subscriptions :)
