I started out my weekend watching the end of the first season of The Pretender from Netflix with some more good homemade food (couscous and butternut squash). It made a good in-between from the week to the weekend, nice and relaxing.
I've been trying to group some of my music into a new playlist: "dance workout". The song that reminded me that I wanted to do that is Rihanna's Shut up and Drive, because it totally makes me want to move. I don't dance or even pretend to think I'm good, but I'm trying to move more, and I want songs that make me get up the couch and do some running in place or jumping jacks or crazy dancing that I'd never do if a real person was in the house with me!!
A few people that fit on my type of music are (no specific order) Ashlee Simpson, Britney, Maroon 5, Gavin DeGraw (I Don't Wanna Be always makes me sing along!), Republica, a few Moby songs, my only Christina Aguilera so far (Fighter), Jem, some old Ace of Base, and Garbage (Cherry Lips is another one that I always wanna dance to). I have a few more in my "wanted" wishlist folder to buy next time I get music, which may have to be soon so I can have a few more to exercise with.
Everybody's tastes are different, but I can't help but ask:
What songs would you put in that playlist? What makes you move?
My original blogging site, kadyellebee.com, has turned into a place to aggregate all my various updates into one place over the last few years since more of my blogging happens at Vox. I haven't put up a new design or added my more recent content sources (Vox, Twitter, library) for a few years, so it was time. :) I drew a little somethin' for the header and had fun learning SimplePie, a php framework that pulls it together.
Go check it out, I've got my annual TV season post there up, too!
We played with the kids at home for a while. E got out some of his treasured childhood tools - little animal guys. Leonard had the best time putting them BACK in the bag, and Leah tried to keep hers close so Leonard didn't grab 'em.
Then we walked down to the park. Leah and E ran around and Leonard and me climbed and swang. I accidentally got a picture of Leonard's shadow while swinging and it actually was a fun picture for having my camera backwards!
When we came back from the park, the kids helped E sweep the back porch (it's just a teeny cement slab with our swing on it). They were happy to be helpers while I cooked in the kitchen. Periodically, they'd sit on the porch swing and they could see me when they got to a certain place in their swing and would yell "hi"!
Leonard said something that sounded like our names for the first time, which is def a milestone!
It was a fun morning, and we shared lunch with them and their dad afterwards.
