One year ago today, Vox officially launched! Here's my post and moblog from that day.
In that year, so many great things have been added to make Vox even cooler, with more ways for me to love it. And as I've had a year full of change personally, this matches well! Some of my personal highlights from the last year:
- I love that Vox has finally made it possible for me to share things with my family - having Sarah, my Mom, and E's mom all be part of it has been such a nice treat to have this way to keep them up to date on my life.
- I am glad for being able to record the books and movies that I've been enjoying so much this year - I have such a nice way to look back at what I was doing during any given month over the year.
- I am proud for the way groups have grown, particularly the Knitting group. It's a happy way to see how so many of my friends are growing in their knitting!
- I appreciate things like [this is good] for introducing me to new people I might not have met. I have some great new friends, particularly people who enjoy TV shows through the new fall season, and that's been really a fun thing.
- I smile looking back at my moblog posts this year - this has been a constant for me even when my time for posting has been light, and it really gave me a chance to still easily share a little bit of myself, and have something to look back at.
So happy birthday, Vox, here's to many more years of greatness to come!
Yesterday was my last day at Six Apart. I am so blessed to have been here for over 3 years and watch Six Apart grow in so many different ways. It's been so cool to be part of different teams along the way, and then working on Vox as it was created and has turned into a terrific service!
I'm going to take a break, play with the hobbies I've been developing, and do some things to take care of myself. I'll probably get to do some fun housework too, maybe finally paint that wall waiting for me! :) And I'm looking forward to getting back to blogging more, too, so I'll be around for sure.
Thanks to everybody for your support along the way!
I'm having such a hard time picking between the new themes!!! So currently, I'm stars-and-stripey-patriotic :D It's great having that problem :)
This will be announced tomorrow, but I got a chance to give out info for my friends and family first :)
Have you heard of Moocards? They are like little business cards you can give out, and they are going to start letting Vox members print off their own. You can get a 10-pack sample (for the first 1000 people) by following the steps below:
- Add Moocards to your neighborhood, even if it's just for now (until the order is complete)
- Then shop on their special version of the site at moo.com/vox
- Pick either photo or text cards and do the free 10 pack option.
- I did text ones and used fun fonts and patterns, and then my member photo/vox logo on the back.
- Moocards will ship anywhere in the world!
More details will be up on Team Vox tomorrow, but you don't have to wait till then :)
Edited to add: Probably don't share this with any one else until Team Vox posts, since this is supposed to be special first chance for my friends :)
Edited again: The Team Vox post about this is up now :)
I *love* the new Vox themes for the holidays! The biggest challenge is, WHICH ONE DO I PICK?! :D
The pinks on the pink ornament one are beautiful, and I love the idea of the cookies. The holiday stripes and modern holiday ones are so classy. Aurora is beautiful.. Ornate trees has such nice scrollys in the tree. And on and on and on... I think I will have to do what the post suggested and switch often throughout the holiday days :)
Maybe this will finally kick me into gear for decorating, too. We've got the lights out and plan to do the tree probably tomorrow. My wreath isn't even out, man, I can't believe it's the 8th already! I need to get rid of this cold so I can start enjoying making Christmas treats, too :) Woo for the holidays!
I finally got around to adding a few of my recent photos off my camera. For some reason, my camera sat here for several weeks w/o being touched, and I finally got a chance to move them to my computer, title them in iPhoto, export them to flickr (to keep my titles, descriptions, and resize them) and then pull them into Vox. Phew!
I have some 4th of july ones together in a collection, as well as just some random ones from last weekend's trip to Vancouver. We just decided to go wandering around, and ended up looking through some shops: a used book store where E found a ton of things to get and I got one children's book I remember laughing hysterically at, several Art Galleries with local art, wandering down the street and back up over again to the car, and finally stopping at a cafe for lunch and gelato. We headed for a cool kid's toystore next door for a bit, looking at games and always skimming for potential gifts for miss leah. Our goal was to go to Farmers market, but by the time we walked that direction, it was closed. Oops, we'll try for that another day.
It was a delightful day, even though my legs were sore after walking so much. I definitely want to go and do that again, and maybe even sit in the park downtown. There was a big thing going on when we walked back that way, too, and I'm not sure we would have fit in at the pride event :) But we did sit and listen to the music for a few minutes and it was nice.
So yeah, back to my title of the post... I added other stuff to vox too. I've been trying to keep up on all of my movies and books too. With our now-regular trips to the library and the Netflix movies coming in a few times a week, it's quite exciting to be able to track them here. :) No new music, but I do have a gift card on my desk and hope to get some new stuff soon. Cori gave me some great ideas of Ani DiFranco songs I should check out, at the very least!
This weekend was much lighter - we spent quite a bit of the weekend resting and I took several naps. We ended up going to Leonard and Sarah's and having dinner with them and Mom and Dad (steak on the grill, corn on the cob, bread, and salad, AND blackberry/blueberry cobbler, SO goood). We hung out with Leah and I read books with her and we played in her little pool (just a kiddy pool with 6-9" of water). Then today, we played a bit, watched a movie, and ate leftovers. A few interesting work things in between, but mainly tried to rest and relax and get ready for another week. :)
