I'm a fan of all things Joss Whedon does (like Buffy), and people have been talking about Dr. Horrible for a while now (including Joss himself). It's his project from during the writer's strike, and the first act was unveiled today.
I had a hard time getting the site to load, but they switched servers and we ended up watching it on E's computer. Hilarious! I can't wait to see the other two acts later on this week. You can get it on iTunes, too. Here's the trailer for it, if you haven't seen it or heard about it yet.
Enjoy!
My most bloggable present from Christmas was from my parents, who got me Buffy's Radio Sunnydale CD off my wishlist.
I resisted getting this soundtrack back when it first came out because I wasn't enamored by the number of songs on it. But the more and more I watch the show again, the more I wanted to have some of these songs that were unavailable elsewhere. Mainly the super Blue by Angie Hart (talked about getting it stuck in my head in this post). Some of the other songs are great, too (just noticing that the beginning of Bohemian Like You is reminds me of Real Gone by Sheryl Crow from Cars, LOL!) I already had purchased the Aimee Mann song on this album because I liked it so much, so I have two copies now!
There's also a Sarah McLachlan song on here that I couldn't easily get, The Prayer of St. Francis, and I love making my Sarah-collection more complete. Funny thing, this made me notice that somehow when I ripped my music in, Surfacing never made it in, so Full of Grace, another song used on a Buffy ep, wasn't on my computer. Most of the songs I liked from that CD were on Mirrorball, so I guess I hadn't noticed. Fixed now, Surfacing is all ripped.
While listening, I start digging for other Buffy-on-episode music that I didn't yet have that was available on iTunes, and I added a nice pile to my wishlist (Tip: for a low-tech personal wishlist in iTunes, just create a new playlist and drag the 30 second clips into it)
While Buffy Guide is the best overall site for anything related to specific episodes, I wanted to find a site that listed out the songs played in each episode rather than clicking through to each. I found Dusk 'till Dawn, which has a really nice short overview of each song, the artist, and the brief summary of when it plays for most of them. That works!
Oh, and I'm really excited right now about Buffy because right before Christmas, I used some Amazon gift certificates to finish up my collection when all the seasons were on sale. That was the 3 remaining Buffy's I needed and the 3 final Angel's, too. I'm adding them to my Vox when I finish them, and we'll be done with Season 2 of Buffy the next time we sit down to watch - I won't watch Becoming I without watching II at the same time, so it'll be a double feature :) We watched the one before those over the weekend, Go Fish, which is fun because it has not only Shane West (of ER, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), but Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) too :)
Pretty soon, I'm going to have to decide if I want to watch Buffy and Angel intermixed like they played on TV, or finish out Buffy and then start Angel. I hadn't thought of that until E said something, but the more I think about it, the more that makes sense for the timeline and the things that did cross over a little. That'd be 4 seasons worth that match up: Buffy 4/Angel1, Buffy 5/Angel 2, Buffy 6/Angel 3, Buffy 7/Angel 4.
I think I'll have to pick up Angel: Live Fast, Die Never at some point too, because even though most of it instrumental, it's got Christian Kane's LA Song too. ;)
And there's my fangirlyness that made me all happy even though I'm a bit worn out from the festivities!
OMG, Best News Ever! Alerted by As Told by Jen. :) I am so wowed right now, this was certainly terrific news between the trick-or-treaters (we've had only 3 groups so far).
Edited to add: Whedonesque of course is covering this tonight too now! Joss has been in the news more this week because of the Angel box set coming out on DVD, and then tomorrow's Office episode he directed, so this is SO his week!!!! Woot!
Earlier today, it was "Blue" by Angie Hart, which is crazy-insane because I haven't heard it for a long time, probably since I saw the rerun of the epidode of Buffy that had it on. I saw when searching that it's a track on the Radio Sunnydale album, so I put that on my wishlist because there's a couple tracks on there I was excited about, and unfortunately, they aren't on iTunes.
Now, it's "I'm just a little black rain cloud" ala Winnie the Pooh, because I was doodling little clouds on my paper (they looked suspiciously like vox logo bubbles, too!)
What a goof I am!
Sure, most sequels stink, but what movie really needs a sequel?
Easy one: I'd like to see a sequel to Serenity!! I know, Joss is busy with Wonder Woman and after that Goners, so it's unlikely at this point, but wow, it would be super duper! In the meantime, I guess I enjoy the small things my fav actors from the series and movie do... a couple of the shows that they were on this tv season already were cancelled (Standoff for Gina and Daylight for Adam). But there should be more Morena on Stargate coming soon and Jewel on Atlantis. now that 2007 is here, woo :) I love all my whedon-show-alumni, though, and can't help but watch whedonesque to keep an eye on them :)
Back when I watched everything on the WB, there was a promo video that I absolutely loved.
Features stars of Buffy, Angel, Dawson's Creek, Jack and Jill, Felicity, Charmed, 7th Heaven, Roswell, and more. This evening when I was reading feeds, I see that it was mentioned on PopCandy. I was so excited to see it again. Not too long ago, I found that this artist (thisway) had the song for sale on the iTunes Music Store and immediately added it to my shopping cart. Just because of this promo. :)
It was so nice to actually see it again. And realize just how many people I still love were featured. These are the people that I always have to try and see the movie if they are going to be on it, and I have wishlists in my TiVo for at least 5 of them. It was the start of me developing my love for series TV, the first years that I was on my own and could pick my own shows to watch. And watch I did, wowie ka-zowie. :)
Seeing this makes me sad for the end of the WB (coming up really soon), but I know that I haven't loved WB as much as I loved it in 1999 for a while anyhow!
Which TV show was cancelled way too soon?
I really really wish that Firefly had hung on longer. I watched all the episodes when it was on SciFi last year and then Serenity, and now I'm rewatching the episodes again on DVD.
But I do have a lot of others that I really would have been really nice to be around longer:
Buffy[1] and Angel. Roswell. Tru Calling. Farscape[2]. Relativity. The Pretender. John Doe[3].
There are probably more, but those definitely stick out as shos that I wish were still going :)
I got behind on my QOTDs, but I was so looking forward to writing my answers to this that I thought about it for a while before writing it up. :)
[1] Yes, I know Buffy went on for a long time. But I actually said outloud to E not too long ago: "I sure wish we had new episodes of Buffy to look forward to every week." (probably after listening to Once more with Feeling soundtrack again ;) )
[2] Eric reminds me that because they made the tv movie, it wasn't quite as bad of an end to the show as it could have been. I suppose the same is true for The Pretender, I did enjoy the movies :)
[3] The irony in this is that John Doe was on at the same time as Firefly and when I didn't quite get the first episode of Firefly, I started watching John Doe. I know, I suck! And both got cancelled anyhow.
