I was sitting here last night, trying to add to my wishlist so that my mom and whoever got me in the Christmas drawing and my in-laws have ideas of things to get me. And I was having a really hard time!
I guess I've had a pretty good year, where if there's something I *really* wanted, I got it. Or in some cases like the last video games we bought, I waited and waited until they were a better deal and then got them (Rachet: Deadlocked and Sly 3, which we did buy 2, get 1 free at circuit city to get Shadow of the Colossus for E at the same time).
And then between the library and Netflix, I've been seeing a lot of books and movies that I wouldn't have normally been able to, and may have just put some of them on my wishlist before. And iTunes, to buy just the tracks of an album I want has made my wishlist shorter because I used to want an album just because it was by a certain person and now I'm a little more choosy. I'm still so new in the crafts I'm doing that I don't know what books I want to OWN yet to help me out.
Of course, I have found some cool things to add to my list. The Craft magazine was at barnes and noble the other night, and that looked really cool. Rina's been talking about Lush bath bombs and so I added one of those. (no, i didn't want to freak out my MIL by putting the Sex Bomb, so I went with one with a cherrier name :P) I've added a few random things that other people on Vox talked about over the last few months.
I guess I just feel bad because usually I have a lot more ideas for people :) This year, there are less people to need ideas for, so I'm sure it won't even be a big deal to anybody that my list doesn't include very new things :D
or Kristine's tip o' the day...
When you are out at a store, and you see some item you'd like to have, take a picture with your camera phone. Then when you get back to your computer, you can add it to your netflix queue or your amazon wishlist or your Vox organize screen.
It is a good reminder to see it in your photo gallery on your phone! :D It's quite handy!
What's your favorite song of 2006?
yes, i'm doing this one a little behind, but it was a good question and I missed it being busy originally!
I just sorted in iTunes by year, and come to find out, I have NO songs from 2006.
So I looked for what my favorite song is overall, not just in 2006. iTunes also tells me that the song I've played most is Fall to Pieces by Avril Lavigne. Of course, that's over all time, but that's only a little over a year because that's how old this music library is (when I switched from PC to Mac). So that probably means it's actually the one I like the most out of my whole collection, no matter which year it's from.
I would have guessed my favorite would be a Sarah McLachlan song, but I guess I own a lot more of those, so the counts are more spread out between them all (like Posession, I have 2 or 3 versions!)
Sorting my "wanted!" playlist (a playlist where I drag 30 second clips from the store to remind myself I'd like to buy them) has several from this year: P!nk's Long Way to Happy and Stupid Girls (off her new album), and Nickelback's Savin' Me.
None of my very favorite artists have had an album out this year. That probably has impacted me. AND the fact that I can buy awesome old songs one at a time from iTunes has contributed a bit. So I shuffle my library and listen to it all the time rather than the radio. Which means I don't hear the new songs very often! My last purchase in January *did* have multiple albums from 2005, so I'm not *that* far behind. ;) (t.A.T.u., Ashlee Simpson, and Garbage along with other random tracks...)
I guess I should be trying harder at finding new music instead of being happy with what I have. :D Can we have a re-do on this question in 6 months and see how it ended up? :)
